International Women's Day 2020 - Peel Region
Sunday, March 1, proved to be an exciting day as a few sisters attended the breakfast in Peel Region to celebrate women's day. Always a great event.

February 2020 -
Sisters in the trades battled the cold to join with others in Niagara Falls where Ford's government was meeting for a two day policy conference.
Women asked - Are you QUALIFIED?
Women in the trades get asked this every day of every job. Are you qualified? Hell, yes, we’re qualified. Women attended the same apprenticeship programs, passed the same tests and perform the same job-related tasks as well as men do. To read more go to www.womenyoushouldknow.net
WOMEN HAVE WORKED IN THE SKILLED TRADES FOR DECADES. While our numbers are still relatively small, our presence is positively growing. There is an abundance of opportunity for women in the construction trades. The results of these opportunities are a tremendous benefit to the construction trades that employ us and to the unions that have us as members. Sisters in the Trades was formed in 2005 with the goals of: building solidarity with each other and within our respective unions; fostering awareness of the benefits of working in the skilled trades and the value women bring to the workplace; facilitating personal and professional growth in our industry; and enabling empowerment of our members across the construction and building trades.
Sisters in the Trades is a sub-committee of the Toronto and York Region Labour Council Women's Committee and has strong ties through it's members to many of the trade unions in the Greater Toronto Area.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
To promote solidarity, increase awareness, facilitate growth by providing an avenue for addressing issues, and by developing innovative strategies to reach specific goals.
